Nasario Garcia recounts that "life in rural New Mexico for the farmer/rancher during the first decades of the 20th century was difficult, but for him and his family it wasn’t 'all work and no play.' Throughout the year daily chores were put aside and fiestas reigned supreme. From the elderly to the very young, a joyous mood prevailed among villagers. Eating, playing practical jokes and games, dancing, drinking, and even fighting were standard during the day and night of the fiesta. This lecture based on personal experiences, old-timers’ own words, and tape-recorded music of years gone by, will take you back in time and space."
