Loretta Ellsworth will read selections from her book "In Search of Mockingbird" and host a Q&A. The book was named one of the New York Public Library’s Best Books for the Teen Age in 2008. She holds a master’s degree in Writing for Children, and conducts workshops that focus on actively engaging students in discussions on the writing life, how authors find inspiration for their books, and the craft of writing.

Kerry Madden will read from her newest book a biography of Harper Lee, "Up Close: Harper Lee." Kerry is the author of Gentle’s Holler, Louisiana’s Song, and Jessie’s Mountain, a trilogy set in the Smoky Mountains in the town of Maggie Valley, North Carolina. She conducts writing workshops for young people that help them understand why they should tell their own stories, how they'll benefit from writing and how to do it. She is a frequent contributor to the Los Angeles Times, and has also written for Salon.com, LA Weekly, and the Chicago Review Press.
