It strives to provide diverse communities with easy access to the information and knowledge needed to nurture cultural exploration and lifelong learning.
Program Description: The County of Los Angeles Public Library will host The Big Read featuring author Rudolfo Anaya’s classic coming of age novel, Bless Me, Ultima. The five East Los Angeles libraries—East Los Angeles, Anthony Quinn, El Camino Real, City Terrace, and Juvenile Hall—will coordinate community-wide reading celebrations centered on the book. A variety of events planned from mid-March 2008 to mid-April 2008, will attract both new and experienced readers to literary reading. Programs include an art exhibit with awards, speakers, and a community connections project. There will be something for everyone, from participating in book discussions to contributing family anecdotes to citywide displays.
