Explore! Expand! Adventure Iowa!

Program Description: Using the historical events of the author's time in Iowa as a springboard, The State Historical Library presents A Walk on the Wild Side with Jack London’s The Call of the Wild. It includes various combinations of events (readers’ theaters, movie nights, dog shows, humanities lectures, book groups, and a Chautauqua show) at nine locations around the state: Council Bluffs, Walnut, Earlham, West Des Moines, Des Moines, Newton, Iowa City, Ottumwa, and Keokuk. A portable display featuring Jack London, Kelly’s Army, and the book will be at each venue along with information and materials highlighting The Big Read and sponsors.
