A Poe Inspired Encaustics Workshop

Antoinette Walker will teach an encaustics workshop at the Kodiak College, inspired by Edgar Allan Poe & The Big Read Kodiak. Antoinette Walker is a longtime Kodiak resident, fisherman, and celebrated artist. After working in oils most of her life, and after taking a mixed-media art class, she expanded her art into encaustic painting using found objects like rusty beach metal, paper, bird feathers and bone. The workshop group will create unique pieces of encaustic artinspired by one of Poe's poems. Individually, participants will create each piece with inspiration from an assigned section of the poem. Collectively, the group will have created a collection inspired by the poem in its entirety. An art show will be shared publicly to result. Details on this workshop are still unfolding. Keep an eye and ear open for your chance to register on The Big Read Kodiak's Facebook page or the Kodiak Art Council's website.
