The BIG Read--Washington County Kick-Off Event

This kickoff fundraiser will be held at the Washington County Historical Society Old Courthouse Museum and will feature an amontillado wine tasting, Tango Tap, live performers, food by Januli's, a wine auction, and a dropping of a raven from the belltower at 7:15 pm. Guests are encouraged to dress in costume for a carnival/masquerade ball. Guests will have the opportunity to decorate masks or wear their own. Tickets will be on sale through the Schauer Center starting August 10.

Poe Movie Night

Tales of Terror (1962) is an American horror film starring Vincent Price, Peter Lorre, and Basil Rathbone. The three short sequences are based on the following Poe tales: "Morella", "The Black Cat" which is combined with another Poe tale, "The Cask of Amontillado", and "The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar". Each sequence is introduced by Vincent Price who also appears in all three narratives.

Hunt for objects represented in Edgar Allen Poe's works throughout the Old Courthouse Museum to read a Poe quote about the object. Washington County Historical Society Poe Tours "Murders in the Rue Morgue"

Guided by Poe's characters, visitors will examine the scene of the crime in the Old Jailhouse Museum.
