At an annual Winter Haven community celebration, Polk County's Big Read Initiative featuring The Stories and Poems of Edgar Allan Poe will be unveiled.

Family Week is an annual event that attracts approximately 1500 adults and children with a parade of local cultures. A short selection from Poe will be read in their native languages. At the Big Read booth, attendees will transform into Poe and walk away with a photo keepsake.

The All Saints Academy Bostick Bells will perform background music to a recitation of 'The Bells' by Poe. Theatre Winter Haven Academy presents Poe! Poe! Poe! - a 25 minute play with excerpts form some of Edgar Allen Poe's most celebrated writings - including The Raven, Life of Thingum Bob, Esq, The Masque of the Red Death, Annabel Lee, The Tell Tale Heart, Israfel and Some Passages in the Life of a Lion. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. General seating. Admission is free.

This unique reading of Edgar Allan Poe's "The Tell-Tale Heart" takes place in Winter Haven's Central Park in conjunction with the First Friday's Pickin' in the Park. Blankets and lawn chairs will be needed for this interactive reading, which incorporates drummers and audience members, as they represent the beating heart.
