In the months of July and August, the Kennedy, La Casita, and Renacimiento Teen centers will host a public reading of "Fahrenheit 451." In August, rough drafts of murals will be created depicting themes of the book. Murals will be completed in September and displayed at the Barnes and Noble Montclair Store in October. The murals will be on display at the Pomona Public Library during the month of November.

Proclamation by the Pomona Unified School District Board, declaring October-November 2010 Big Read months. The Board will endorse participation by the School District. Sponsored by the Friends of the Pomona Library, the contest is open to student and amateur photographers of all ages. Photograph entries should depict a person who lives or works in Pomona posing with their favorite book. Pomona will kick-off its "Fahrenheit 451" Big Read with a very special evening with Ray Bradbury and Sam Weller. Sam Weller, Ray Bradbury's authorized biographer will discuss his books, "The Bradbury Chronicles" and the newly released "Listen to the Echoes: the Ray Bradbury Interviews." The evening will feature an interactive program with Ray Bradbury and Sam Weller, and is a rare opportunity to meet one of America's most celebrated authors.
