The Big Read - Edible Books: Tea and Murder Mystery

Join the Library and The Aesthetics of Research for our annual celebration of Edible Book Day, a global extravaganza of all things readable and edible. We invite you to enter your creation, which will be viewed, voted on and eaten by the attendees on April 1. This year’s theme is mysteries, a tie in to our 2016 Big Read selection, Dashiell Hammett’s The Maltese Falcon. Do you love Nancy Drew or Mary Higgin’s Clark? Adore Sherlock Holmes and Ellery Queen? Do you not-so secretly binge watch old re-runs of Murder She Wrote? Join us for an evening of voting, devouring, and helping us solve the Bundt Cake Bump-Off, a culinary-themed murder mystery game organized by the Columbia Library Gaming Society. In preparations for the festival, someone has murdered top pastry chef Lotta Biscotti. Was it surly librarian and mystery fan Agatha Crispie? The mild-mannered food critic Albert Etoufeee? Wealthy dairy heiress Camilla Camembert? Her consort the mobster, Bananas Foster? No one knows. And no one is safe. (Not even Lotta’s signature lemon bundt cake.) Entries: It can look like a book, act like a book, or be a pun on a book, but it must be edible! RSVP by March 25 with kbowen@colum.edu to let us know you are bringing an entry. Prizes will be awarded in multiple categories, including Best in Show, Most Likely to be Devoured, Best Pun on a Book and more...
